James Hadwin has a broad knowledge of the agricultural industry. He has extensive practical experience including: livestock production (sheep, beef and pigs) in both conventional and organic farming systems; promotion and sales and encouraging knowledge transfer between farmers; and improving business performance. He also runs his own outdoor pig enterprise and has a key role in a wholesale meat business.
His main area of expertise is beef, sheep and outdoor pig production. Within these enterprises he focuses on soil and grassland management and animal health issues, business management, accounts analysis and enterprise costings.
He is qualified to deliver advice for animal health plans in order to improve farm performance and animal health and welfare. He has previous experience of facilitation of beef and sheep monitor farms to show best practice and show the financial benefits being gained through changes in farming practice. He is responsible for the development of SAC services in the Cumbria and Lancashire areas, working with farmers to help improve the profitability of their businesses, in an ever changing business environment.
